Racing for Freedom Tri this weekend was Richard Allen (pictured below), at the Mojito Standard Triathlon, organised by Monster Racing at Peterborough rowing lake for the second year running. After a very early start, Richard was in the shallow, murky water for a 1,500m swim, then a 38km bike ride taking in the villages surrounding Peterborough, followed by a 2 lap run totalling 10k around the boating lake. Richard posted a course best time of 2:44:27, despite a slower run than last year due to the heat. His time secured Richard 93rd position.

Also racing were David Kershaw, Lee Gilchrist, Matt Cotter and Mark Cheadle, also all racing the Standard distance at Grafham Water Standard Distance - 2016 ITU Standard Distance Triathlon Qualifier, organised by NiceTri Events. The swim was a deep water start, with deep, cold water and 1,500m of swimming, followed by a quick change in transition, to a 40km bike, then followed by a 10k run. Kershaw was first in for Freedom Tri, finishing 24th in his age group in 2:23:28. Gilchrist finished in 35th in age group in 2:26:16, Cotter, 48th in age group in 2:47:11 and Cheadle in 49th in age group in 2:47:32.
