Hertfordshire's Friendliest Triathlon Club
From Thursday 5 November, new national restrictions in England mean that organised swim, bike, run activity for more than two people must be temporarily halted until Wednesday 2 December. As a Club Freedom Tri are following these restrictions and are suspending all club associated activities until Wed 02 December including: Tue night run training, Friday night St Christopher’s swim session, all Pit swimming sessions and XC races.
We hope to resume these sessions again from 2 December but this will be wholly dependent upon government restrictions being lifted.
Please note that during the lockdown period, you can train outdoors either on your own, with the people you live with or with those you have formed a support bubble with, or with one person from another household. If you meet with someone from another household, it must be in a public place and not a home or a garden.
We hope you stay safe at this time and as a Club we hope to see you all again soon flying the colours!
Please check these details out on the new COVID-19 page.
You must read these and update your profile to say you have. You must register yourself on all sessions you attend.
Thank you for your interest in joining Freedom Tri, Hertfordshire's Friendliest Triathlon club.
We have a huge range of ability in the club from novices to GB age group athletes.
Have a browse round the training pages of our website to see the kind of activities we get up to. We try to deliver at least one session in each of the 3 triathlon disciplines ever week.
There are weekend bike rides (mainly in the summer), weather permitting.
Also in the spring and summer time we have some internal club races which are a good fun, no cost way to test yourself against your little group of peers in the club.
Membership includes all the regular pool swimming, turbo, open water and run sessions. From time to time there may be additional costs incurred that will generally be split between those taking part. (For example, in the past we have hired the velodrome at Welwyn for a couple of hours which worked out at £5 per head for those that took part).
We take part in the local winter cross country and summer midweek running leagues. Some members dabble in the local cyclo-cross bike racing scene in the winter and the local bike time trial races in the summer. Some of these come with a cost that is paid for by the individual, but the club is affiliated to British Cycling which does reduce some entry fees.
If you want to take part in the Open Water Swimming at our lake venue then you need to become a member of the British Triathlon Federation. The 2020 cost for that is £26 for 12 months (or £45 if you go for the race licence option).
The club does not have a junior section and is for over 18’s only.
